Aeronautical Engineer

SUMMARY: engineering supporting heavy maintenance base operations at aircraft MRO’s. Acts as Supervisor over technicians to ensure airworthiness of heavy commercial aircraft.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Providing technical dispositions (via Engineering Authorizations) and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.
  • Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Engineering Orders.
  • Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.
  • Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance to Base Maintenance and delegation of duties to junior technicians.
  • Attending daily production meeting and pre-induction meeting to ensure timely support.
  • Providing on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged line aircraft as required.
  • Coordinating events/issues with Engineering Fleet Groups for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up.
  • Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive BA requests.

EDUCATION:

  • BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
  • Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline
  • FAA licensing

  • Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer’s needs
  • Aircraft/airline/MRO aviation engineering experience desired
